Ostra City Tour – Discovering its historical and cultural treasures

The journey to discover Ostra begins at the imposing city walls, which still embrace the historic center like an ancient defensive bulwark. Following their path, visitors enter the heart of the town, where the architectural charm and harmony of the urban spaces immediately stand out.

Continuing toward the center, you reach the Basilica of Santa Croce, one of Ostra’s most representative buildings. Nearby stands the Monument to the Name and Coat of Arms of the City, which recalls the area’s most ancient origins.

From here, the itinerary winds through picturesque views along Corso Mazzini, encountering the Church of Saints Joseph and Philip and, a little further on, the Church of San Rocco—places of quiet reflection that preserve artistic and spiritual treasures of great value.

Along the same Corso are the noble palaces. Their elegant façades speak of a past rich in social and cultural life, still perceptible today through courtyards, monumental entrances, and decorative details.

The route then leads to Piazza dei Martiri, the vibrant civic heart of Ostra. Here stands the imposing Civic Tower, a symbol of the city, alongside the Town Hall, whose elegant loggia frames the square. Nearby is also the “La Vittoria” Theater, a guardian of local traditions and cultural life.

Continuing toward the oldest part of the town, you encounter the Church of Saints Francis and Lucy, once the site of civic assemblies and a testament to the close connection between religious and administrative life.

Leaving the historic center, the itinerary opens onto a territory rich in spirituality and popular devotion. Within a short distance are two important sanctuaries: the Sanctuary of the Most Holy Crucifix, one of the oldest in the area, and the renowned Sanctuary of Madonna della Rosa, nestled in the greenery of a quiet valley. A little further on lies the Sanctuary of Santa Maria Apparve, linked to a deep sense of faith passed down through the centuries.

The tour thus concludes amid culture, medieval atmospheres, natural scenery, and places of prayer, offering a complete and harmonious experience that reveals the authentic soul of Ostra and its many excellences.

Food Stop

At the end of—or during—the tour of Ostra, visitors can enjoy local culinary specialties by choosing one of the recommended restaurants along the route. Among these are La Cantinella, renowned for its carefully reinterpreted traditional cuisine, and Agriturismo Paradiso, where typical dishes can be savored while immersed in the rural landscape of Ostra.

Winery Stop

For wine lovers, a visit to the Conti di Buscareto winery is almost a must. This long-established estate is dedicated to preserving and enhancing local winemaking traditions. Its wines express the authenticity of the territory, the result of a philosophy rooted in quality, respect for the environment, and excellence of raw materials.

Shopping Stop

At the end of the visit, you can indulge in a bit of shopping by choosing among notable local businesses. For those who love sustainable fashion, the ethical and original knitwear by Gaia Segattini Knotwear represents a true local excellence. Meanwhile, fans of authentic Marche flavors should not miss the products of Salumificio Valmisa, perfect to take home as a delicious souvenir of the Ostra experience.
