Conti di Buscareto
The Marche hills are shrouded in history, literature, art, and legends. They are not only the refuge of medieval villages, but are also a succession of lush lands and vineyards. On one of these hills, the Buscareto hill, at the beginning of the 13th century stands a castle, a residence that would become the symbol of the Counts of Buscareto family. We are located in the Misa Valley, located in the heart of the Marche region, a place where history and flavors are characterized by fascinating hilly landscapes and enchanted villages. The Misa River, which flows through this valley, rises on the southwestern slopes of the Arcevia anticline and flows through historic municipalities such as Arcevia, Serra de’ Conti, Ostra Vetere and Senigallia. A special place, which offers an ideal environment for viticulture, thanks to the composition of the soil and the favorable climate, allowing the production of high-quality wines such as Lacrima di Morro d’Alba and Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi. Right here are grafted the stories of the Counts of Buscareto, who marked the history of this land between the 12th and 15th centuries, and the authentic flavours of the Marche Although initially of lower rank, the Buscaretos carried within them the burning flame of ambition. You can tell by their own names, Ammazzaconte or Abbassaconte, who were already whispering their determination to gain power among the greats of the time. And they succeeded, at the end of the thirteenth century, they ascended to the title of Feudal Lords. This brought them to the center of challenges and violent conflicts to maintain power in times of political instability. They were forced to continually change alliances, alternating between Church and Empire, between Guelphs and Ghibellines. It is in the midst of chaos that an oasis of peace and conviviality arises: the laid table. During days of respite from arms, during family celebrations and popular celebrations, everyone took refuge in a steaming plate of game accompanied by the taste and aroma of a glass of red wine. In 2002, Claudio Gabellini, an IT entrepreneur with a deep passion for wine, embraced an ambitious project: reviving the region’s forgotten wine estates. Driven by a passion for his homeland and a desire to shine the prestige of the Marche region through wine, Gabellini founded the Cantina dei Conti di Buscareto. Its mission was clear: to preserve and enhance local winemaking traditions, producing quality wines that embodied the region’s authenticity and excellence.
